How card delivery texts work

When texting is switched on for your account, a new member gets their card by text within seconds of signing up. Texting in Diner On Demand does one job, getting the card into the wallet and the guest back through the door. It is not a broadcast channel; that's what push notifications are for.

The three texts

TextWhenWhat it says
Card linkThe moment a guest signs up"Here's your card" with a short link that opens the wallet pass
DirectionsWhen the guest installs the cardDirections to your nearest location, or to your locations page if the signup wasn't tied to a store
Review requestAfter the guest's first scanned visit, once everA thank-you with a link to leave a Google review

The directions text and the review request can each be switched off for your brand. Ask support, or check with your onboarding contact.

Who gets texted

Every guest who signs up through a Diner On Demand path: your signup page, a Meta lead form, or your CRM or automation tool. Guests who install a card straight from the card platform's own install page never enter this flow.

For your signup page, each of the three texts can be switched off separately, so the page can hand out cards with no texts at all, or with only the ones you want. Ask support to set this. Signups from lead ads and your own tools always get all three.

  • Your signup page collects express consent with the exact wording covering all three texts, and stores it with the time of agreement.
  • For signups from your own tools, you're responsible for having collected consent, in line with Canada's anti-spam law.
  • Any guest can reply STOP and is never texted again. START opts back in.
  • The directions and review texts respect quiet hours. The card link is sent immediately because the guest has just asked for it.

Your sending number

Texts come from a toll-free number registered to your business, with your name in every message. Registration and carrier compliance are handled for you.
