Scanner and cashier PINs

Set up the counter, start a shift, scan cards and log tickets.

  • How the scanner works

  • Creating cashier PINs

A cashier PIN is a six-character code that signs a counter into the scanner. Create one per counter or device, not per person, so a lost PIN is a one-line fix.

  • Starting a shift

Open dinerondemand.app/scanner on the counter device. From the dashboard, Open Scanner in the left-hand menu does the same in a new tab.

  • Scanning a card and logging a ticket

With a shift started, the scanner shows the camera. Everything happens on two screens.

  • Why the ticket amount matters

Every card can ask the cashier for the bill at each scan. It's on by default, and we recommend leaving it on for every card.
