Why the ticket amount matters
Every card can ask the cashier for the bill at each scan. It's on by default, and we recommend leaving it on for every card.
What depends on it
| On your dashboard | Without ticket amounts |
|---|---|
| Revenue | Shows only the tickets that were entered, so it understates the truth |
| Average order value | Can't be calculated |
| Customer lifetime value | Falls back to visit counts, which is far less useful |
| Cost per new member | Still shows the cost, but can't tell you whether a member pays it back, because lifetime value needs tickets |
| Campaign performance | Shows visits per card but not revenue per card |
| Reports | Revenue and average order columns are blank for that location |
Keeping it honest
- Enter the total before tax and tip, the same way every time.
- On a multi-location brand, the footer of the Overview shows whether ticket capture is healthy. A location that stops entering amounts shows up there.
- If a card really shouldn't ask, for example a staff-only card, turn off Ask for the ticket amount at the scanner in that card's settings.
